Team Cathy - Champion Team is fundraising for
In January 2021, our gorgeous mum/wife/grandmother Cathy was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND). She died eight months later. MND is a neurological disease that destroys motor neurones in the brain and eventually leads to paralysis in the body. There is no cure and the average life expectancy is two years. During Mum’s short battle with MND we watched her lose the ability to speak, walk, swallow, move and eventually breathe. The distress this caused our mum, who had been so fit, healthy and loved life, was devastating. Although last year was incredibly challenging we were supported by an amazing not-for-profit organisation - MND Victoria. At no cost to us we were given a full time case worker, equipment to help keep Mum safe and mobile, and constant support and guidance. We are walking in the 41 hour Great MND Relay on 23-25 June at Harold Stevens Athletics Track in Coburg. We want to raise funds so other families like ours don’t need to go through this devastating disease on their own. Please donate to our cause and feel free to come and join us for some laps of the oval. Our family raised $21,000 for MND Victoria last year and we are aiming for even more this year!
